Porcelain paving is made from a mixture of clay, sand and other minerals.

Once mixed, the porcelain is fired in a kiln at very high temperatures and then cut to exact dimensions, creating a dense, non-porous and highly attractive landscaping product.

As a supplier of both porcelain and natural stone slabs, we see the benefits of both these products and believe either are wonderful ways to transform an outdoor space.

Natural stone is of course a naturally occurring product that undergoes minimal additional treatment before it’s cut for use. Porcelain on the other hand is manmade from natural materials and undergoes a firing process to ensure its qualities.

Because of this, porcelain will emulate a natural appearance while natural stone slabs are as organic as it comes. Both materials weather well and are resistant to the sometimes-harsh UK climate but porcelain’s firing process does tend to make it stronger and suitable for heavy footfall.

The benefit of porcelain paving is that it’s extremely hard wearing and strong, making it resistant to weathering.

Due to its non-porous nature, spills and soiling are less likely to sink into your porcelain slab. This makes your surface both easier to clean and resistant to permanent staining.

The durable nature of porcelain, which comes from their density, means that scratches and chips are unlikely. Even better, these benefits are available without the requirement of a sealant.
